
Jean-Laurent Pfund
Jean-Laurent Pfund is a senior Swiss and international forest scientist and policy advisor, focusing on multifunctional and resilient nature-based solutions embedded in transdisciplinary and integrated land use planning approaches. He has been involved for more than a decade in various tropical forested landscapes, through field activities as well as conferences. He holds a PhD in natural sciences from the ETH of Zürich. Now based in Switzerland, after leading a State level service responsible for nature, fauna and forests, he is currently working as a scientific advisor at the federal office for the environment. His focus is on forest ecosystem services (nature protection, carbon sequestration, water purification, etc.), landscape-level concerted nature conservation and management solutions as well as on systemic interactions, notably amongst forest services and SDGs, leading to more a resilient and just future.
